The festivities were attended by Viktor Yanukovich, President of Ukraine; members of Ukrainian Government and Parliament; Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; city government; public organisations; numerous delegations from nearly all regions of Ukraine; Lazarus, Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea; Augustine, Archbishop of Lviv and Halych, Chief of Synod Department for Relations with Armed Forces and Other Military Units; Dmitry Korotkov, Archpriest, Chief of Eparchial Department for Relations with Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies; Sergiy Khalyuta, Archpriest of the Deanery of the Orthodox Parishes in Sevastopol District.

The celebrations started the day before the official ceremony, so that the guests could meet in a relaxed atmosphere and go to have rest long after midnight.

This Day of the Naval Forces of Ukraine was also remarkable for opening Mikhailovskaya Battery Military & Historical Complex (branch of the National Museum of Military History of Ukraine). The complex presented Heroic Sevastopol - a theme exposition in 19th century fortifications. The opening ceremony was attended by Mikhail Yezhel, Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Viktor Karpov, Colonel, Manager of the Museum of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other guests of honour.

The celebrations dedicated to the Day of the Naval Forces of Ukraine came to an end late at night with salute and fireworks.
